When using swimming pool water quick test strips, I find it difficult to accurately match the sample color with the color chart, so I looked for an app that could assist me.

I did find the HTH Test to Swim app but unfortunately if is not available in South Africa where I live. It also has the added disadvantage of only supporting a single brand of test strips. So I tried to make my own.

This app uses computer vision to analyze a photo of the test strip and provide more accurate readings.

It has been designed to work with both 4 and 5 in 1 test strips that have a white background. It has been tested, with limited success, using the HTH 4-in-1 and the Spec 5-in-1 test strips.

The webapp is very much work-in-progress / feasibility study. As such results may vary, and no guarantee of accuracy is provided.

Terms of use

This service is provided free of charge, with no guarantees or liabilies accepted, on condition that any uploaded imaged may be used to train future AI models.

Calibration

Use the testers page to adjust the calibration of a tester, or create a new tester.

Unsupported strips

Only 4 and 5 pad strips are supported. If you have a different number of pads,or if you want to get hold of me for any other reason, you can do so via email at mark@spiderink.co.za
